How to get around

Fuerteventura is a large island, which means that the distances from one point to another are not exactly short. Therefore, if you intend to visit different places of interest, which is 100% recommended, the best option if you are traveling with children is to rent a car. It is possible to get around by bus, but it may not be the most comfortable for the little ones.

There is also the option of moving by taxi, a recommended option for short and specific trips. On the other hand, if the intention is to make several trips between different towns or villages, again the option of renting a car is emerging as the most suitable because it is cheaper.

Best beaches for families

The following is a small collection of beaches with a good location, extensive services (both on the beach and its surroundings), with gentle waves and, in general, a fairly quiet environment. Perfect to go with family.

In any case, they are not the only ones, and you can look at the rest of the beaches in Fuerteventura and make your own choice.

To consider

The good weather is one of the strengths of the island, but the incessant sun that illuminates it can become a headache for families with young children. Make sure you always carry water, a cap/hat and good sun cream. If you go to the beach, which you most likely will, try to bring an umbrella or go to a beach where you can rent one; choose a beach with calm waters and be careful with the tides.

Remember that, according to Spanish legislation, if the child measures less than 135 cm they must go in a safety chair. Make sure you request one when renting a car.

Besides that, Fuerteventura is a very safe island, like the rest of the Canary Islands, so you won’t have any problem other than taking the precautions you usually take in your day-to-day life.
