Antigua is in the centre of Fuerteventura, and its coastline runs along the eastern face of the island. It is a town with wide-open plains, adorned with windmills and scattered with small and charming towns, including the wonderful Caleta de Fuste, which is one of the island’s most popular tourist resorts. Its natural landscapes shine through, like the Cuchillos de Vigán Natural Monument, the Malpaís Grande Protected Area and the La Caldera de Gairia Natural Monument, which offer interesting walking routes. What’s more, Antigua is the birthplace of both well-known artists which have made the area renowned for its craftsmanship. An area in which modernity and tradition, and nature and progress coexist.
